Healdsburg High football coach Tom Kirkpatrick is another Empire coach who is not a big believer in contact before the Aug. 17 start of practice because of the chance of injury.

Longtime Petaluma football coach Steve Ellison had just ended a rafting trip down the McKenzie River in Oregon when he reported on his team.
For the second year, his Petaluma team held its own six-week football camp that involved weight lifting and speed training, all on an individual basis.

It is Dan Bourdon’s second season as head football coach at Analy and his team has attended the Tomales camp and plans on attending another camp in early August.
“It’s the only time we’re in full pads and it’s just good to check out the players that way,” he said.

Mike Roan, El Molino head football coach, vacationed in northern Michigan this summer and talked to some high school coaches who mentioned that the sport is so big in Wisconsin that kids practice in pads there much of the summer.
