Week 9 football predictions
by PrepSports
Posted by Staff Writer Eric Branch:
Last week: 6-2. Season record: 44-15.
Best pick of last week: Nothing to really brag about. I picked Maria Carrillo to beat Ukiah by 10 and the Pumas won by 13. I know, big deal.
Worst pick of last week: Tough call. Was it picking Rancho Cotate to win a close, low-scoring contest? (The Cougars were blown out in a high-scoring game). Or was it picking Cloverdale to lose to Fort Bragg by 12? (The Eagles won by 17). Both fairly wretched, but I think the Rancho pick is the winner (loser?).
This week’s picks:
The pick: Maria Carrillo 17, Montgomery 14
Comment: Gut feeling. Or too much of my kids’ Halloween candy?
The pick: Petaluma 31, Windsor 20
Comment: Trojans clinch at least a share of SCL title.
The pick: Casa Grande 27, Healdsburg 16
Comment: Banged-up Gauchos grind one out.
The pick: Cardinal Newman 34, Ukiah 12
Comment: Look, Mom, no passes!
The pick: Santa Rosa 36, Elsie Allen 7
Comment: A happy homecoming for Panthers.
The pick: Rancho Cotate 33, Piner 13
Comment: Cougars aiming for postseason berth.
The pick: Analy 28, Sonoma 13
Comment: Tigers snap two-game skid.

I have to say that Cloverdale has one of the best defense around. They dominate and next week St. Vincent game will be the one to watch!

Eric you missed on Piner again. Piner will shock Sonoma County tonight with a 2 TD win over Rancho. Put it in the books and pay the believers at the ticket window!!!!!!!

why does everyone pick Elsie to be their homecoming opponent?

I have to agree with Dave, Cloverdale’s defense is really solid. Last week against Fort Bragg, which averaged 64 points a game and had not scored less than 41 points in a game, Cloverdale’s defense held them to just 14 points. Not only that but in 8 games Cloverdale has forced 20 turnovers. I’m just saying Cloverdale deserves a little more recognition from the PD for posting a 7-1 record with many commanding wins.
p.s. If you would like someone to report scores and stats on Cloverdale’s behalf please contact me at my email address.

Obvious why. I don’t think I have ever seen a homecoming this late in the season…and who really gets hurt by this is the Santa Rosa Soccer teams who have NCS Games on the same night as the Homecoming Dance.

thats a big N-0 there eric
montgomery will stay undefeated tonight both in league and against carillo alltime
those pumas may be cute to talk about cuz there on a run and learned how to block yay!!
but the vikes have brought it all season long (exception grant) and will show why they are atop the NBL

At ysn365.com this week Cloverdale was in the top five of all the school in Sonoma County in that version of the rankings

Montgomery Alum – Not nice to say something rude about another school/team/kids. No matter who wins tonight Monty/Carrillo game doesn’t matter what matters is all the kids in this empire work hard, play hard and deserve everything that they work hard for no matter wins or losses. ERIC you do a great job with your picks. Almost always right on. THANKS! Blogs should be for good comments not “sticking it” to other schools. Thanks! GO PUMAS!

You got that right! Cloverdale has the best defense! Did I mention my son play’s on defense for Cloverdale? It would be great if the Press Democrat would mention CLOVERDALE more often!!

Monty 15 Carrillo 14 — WHAT A GAME! The kids from both sides played an awesome game. Not a moment of rest for the players or the fans. Everyone was on their feet! I am a PUMA fan but enjoyed that game even though they lost by 1 point. It was one of those games that will not be forgotten. Way to go Carrillo Boys hanging in there. I also heard that at the end of the game the Monty boys were telling the Carrillo Boys as they walked to say good game, “Beat Newman!!” So let’s go PUMA’s get em’ on Friday! Good job Monty!
