Santa Rosa RB Baker out for season
by PrepSports
Posted by Staff Writer Eric Branch:
Santa Rosa junior running back Travis Baker, the Panthers’ leading rusher, will not play the rest of the season after suffering heat stroke in a 17-11 loss to Piner on Oct. 24.
Baker went to a hospital following the Saturday afternoon game, but did not stay overnight. Santa Rosa coach Tony Keefer said it was a scary situation and, in the aftermath, Baker and his parents decided he shouldn’t play in the Panthers’ final three games.

Eric,
Best wishes to Travis. He was an intregal part the Panther football as well as their leading rusher. I was at the game, and if was my son I think I would make the same parental decision. I hope Travis will be back next season, I have heard rumors that he will not play next season as well. Do you happen to know if this is true?

Eric,
I was told by parents from the Panther team that Travis will not be playing next year as well. Do you know if this is true?

He is a great athlete that excels in Track and Field. As a parent I would want to keep my son healthy and not have him play football anymore. He is ranked in Shot Put and Discus and this is where his energy should be. Good luck in all that you do Travis. You make your parents proud. Stay healthy and have fun no matter what you decide.

Coach S.:
I don’t know. When I spoke with Tony Keefer he only mentioned Baker missing the rest of the season.
