Casa’s Waggoner does it all

by PrepSports

Posted by Staff Writer Eric Branch:
In helping shut down Windsor quarterback D.J. King, one of the Empire’s top two-way players, Casa Grande’s Connor Waggoner proved that he also belongs in the conversation among the area’s most versatile stars.
Waggoner, a senior wide receiver/linebacker, did a little bit of everything in the Gauchos’ 31-14 win over the Jaguars on Friday night.
On offense, he had 5 catches for 180 yards, including a 57-yard touchdown and a two-point conversion. On Casa Grande’s first two drives, he had catches 42 and 65 yards, respectively, to set up touchdowns.
On defense, he had nine tackles, two sacks, a fumble recovery and a forced fumble as the Gauchos limited King to 27 rushing yards.
Asked how he felt after the game, Waggoner’s response was predictable, “I’m tired,” he said, smiling.
